Dito Tsintsadze’s anarchic hitmen caper offers a delirious account of life on the fringes of the diaspora. Unfolding in the sedate German city of Mannheim, Lost Killers sees a gang of illegal immigrants go to ludicrous lengths in a frantic bid for the good life. Georgian Merab (Lasha Bakradze) and Croatian Branko (Mišel Matičević) turn to contract killing to make ends meet, but struggle to follow through. Meanwhile, Haitian martial artist Carlos (Elie James Blezes) is looking to sell a kidney and Vietnamese sex worker Lan (Nicole Seelig) dreams of fixing her rotten teeth. Tsintsadze’s self-consciously absurd comedy of desperation is a raucous tribute to the human spirit reminiscent of Emir Kusturica at his most wanton.
