In a village in northern Georgia, retired engineer Soso has decided to turn his hand to farming blueberries. Together with his wife and two sons, he throws himself into the venture in an attempt to secure a future for his family in this conflict-ravaged territory, only miles from the border with separatist Abkhazia. Soso’s hopes for his children, and the boys’ own longing for escape, play out against a backdrop of renewed geopolitical tension, from Russia’s war on Ukraine to the ghosts of Georgia’s own military defeats. Elene Mikaberidze’s dynamic documentary finds hope and humour in the space between the family’s dreams of change and the reality of their situation.
