Bulgarian duo Petar Valchanov and Kristina Grozeva take their brand of ripped-from-the-headlines satire to extraterrestrial new heights in this absurdist comedy based on a remarkable true story. In the chaos of the early nineties, a branch of the Bulgarian military under the influence of a psychic named Pirina (Margita Gosheva) embarks on a secret excavation mission in search of an alien artefact that promises to elevate the troubled nation to the status of global powerhouse. At the heart of this dubious expedition is Slava (Maria Bakalova), the diminutive and possibly disturbed daughter of the commanding officer, who Pirina claims possesses supernatural powers. A timely take on the power of hucksterism and conspiracy from the Balkans’ premier filmmaking partnership.
