Samizdat Film Festival co-curator Ilia Ryzhenko discusses Bakhtyar Khudojnazarov’s newly restored Tajik classic Brother with Anisa Sabiri, director of previous Samizdat programme title Rhythms of Lost Time (2021) and Firuz Sabsaliev, the lead actor in Khudojnazarov’s film. The conversation ranges from Firuz’s experiences on set, the impact Brother had on a newly independent Tajik film scene in the early nineties, and the current state of cinema in the country today.
