Riga in the wild post-Soviet nineties. Enter rookie detective Romāns Skulte (Raitis Stūrmanis), whose commitment to justice makes him a marked man in a world where drug traffickers and racketeers rule the streets under the protection of crooked cops. This gritty, slow-burning police thriller from Oskars Rupenheits brings a Baltic chill to the gangster classics of Martin Scorsese, a morality play intercut with tense action sequences, double-crosses, and hard-nosed humour.
