The second, by Dan Pița, is a more naturalistic and comedic story about a pair of wandering musicians who conspire to kidnap a bride from her wedding. Based on the beloved short stories of Ion Agârbiceanu, featuring stunning cinematography from the great Iosif Demian and a stirring score, these Transylvanian tales of escape and entrapment reveal a countercurrent in Romanian cinema that recalls the likes of Béla Tarr and Emir Kusturica.
