Stefan Djordjević blends fact and fiction in this tender tribute to his late mother and the enduring power of family and film. Returning to the Djordjević summer house while still in mourning, the director resurrects an abandoned documentary project about his mother Negrica, a free-thinker who chose to fight her fatal cancer with non-traditional methods. Immersed in the beauty of the landscape, Djordjević enlists his family in the film in an attempt to memorialise Negrica’s independent spirit – all while nursing an injured dog who has unexpectedly entered his life. The result is a deeply personal account of grief that blurs the borders between documentary and performance, as the Djordjević clan use the camera as a way to work through their loss and their prospects for the future.
