A portrait of familial breakdown that doubles as pointed social critique, End of Season is the debut feature from Azerbaijani talent Elmar Imanov. Father Samir (Rasim Jafarov) escapes his familial responsibilities with alcohol. His son Mahmud (Mirmövsüm Mirzazade) is desperate to move out. The mother, Fidan (Zülfiyya Gurbanova), is simply fed up with the family. After a trip to the beach, their shared illusions begin to unravel. A study in alienation reminiscent of Antonioni enriched by a stunning set of central performances.
