A gripping reworking of the parable of the prodigal son set in the sun-drenched hills of Montenegro, Bojan Stijović’s feature debut blends family drama with the uneasy energy of a thriller. After years living abroad, famous writer Maksim (Momčilo Otašević) returns to his native village to settle the family estate. When his homecoming is interrupted by a fatal accident, he is forced to turn to his estranged brother Niko (Marko Janketić) in a desperate attempt to preserve the life he has built for himself. A knowing take on the ties that bind and the long shadow cast by the past from one of Europe’s most overlooked filmmaking nations.
