Anna Kazejak’s caustic satire is a worthy addition to the canon of holidays-gone-wrong classics. A weekend camping trip on the beautiful Danish island of Bornholm quickly goes south for two couples and their children in the wake of a boyish prank taken too far, exposing the bitter truth about the ties that bind both family and friends. Agnieszka Grochowska is a revelation as Maja, caught between her overbearing husband (Maciej Stuhr) and her haphazardly attended duties as a mother, and desperately trying to stop her brief stay in paradise from sliding into hell. Kazejak’s painfully funny portrait of middle class disintegration is reminiscent of festival favourite Ruben Östlund, but her voice is all her own.
